Features List Sample

The POS Features list is a comprehensive listing of functions available in the various POS systems featured on this site, broken down into several categories for easy navigation. Not every system includes each feature on the list, which is why the list can be an essential tool in narrowing down the POS systems that will work for you. The list contains definitions of features which are not self-explanatory and also comes bundled with a glossary of common POS and computer terms (see previous page for glossary example). This makes it simple for you to find the features which are important to you and your business. You may then contact us, and we will be able to tell you based on the features you want which POS system will be the best for you.

Actual list has hundreds of features.

  1. Ability to make menu changes from any POS terminal without disrupting POS order entry.

  2. Ability to suppress the printing of time on the check.

  3. Non-proprietary hardware.

  4. Print Today’s Specials on check printer for the server.

  5. Cashier can select order by scanning bar code on printed check.

  6. Hold and fire by time.

  7. Internal e-mail messaging: Management is able to send different types of email (internally only), depending on the type of message, to a person, to a specific job position, or to everyone on the system.

  8. Comparative Sales Analysis: This report displays side-by-side comparative analysis for up to 4 date ranges. Sales data can be compared between major and/or minor reporting categories or individual menu items. Optional date ranges include the last 4 months, last 4 weeks, last 4 days, last 4 Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, etc. or simply enter any 4 date ranges you require.

  9. Secondary item print: Items designated to print on one printer (salads going to a prep printer, for example) can also be printed automatically at a second printer (an entree printer, in this case) so that different sections of a kitchen will know the complete order and can plan prep times accordingly. The secondary items are printed on the same ticket as the primary items, but are clearly separated on the ticket.

  10. Who is Here? This feature displays any members of a client-loyalty program currently dining in the restaurant (a client-loyalty program includes coupons, bonus plans, and other incentives for a customer to return).

  11. Suggestive Selling: The system can be programmed to automatically prompt the order-taker to ask each customer if they would like to order a certain item--french fries or a soda, for example.

  12. Blind Bartender: This option is used by bartenders or cashiers to enter the total cash count in the drawer during the end-of-day procedure or a shift change. After entering the cash amount the “net cash” or “cash owing” line on the bartenders or cashiers daily totals report will indicate if the balance was over or short.

  13. Transfer selected items to another order, instead of voiding and reordering.

  14. Redundancy: System can operate even if the main computer is down.

  15. Staff Billboard Screen: This screen contains information on desserts, daily specials, sold out (86) items and any other desired information or reminders for employees to review.

  16. Denied Password Report: Details incidences where an individual unsuccessfully attempted to access the system with an incorrect password. Includes times and dates of the incidences.

  17. Extra Charges Reports: Plate Sharing, Large Party Charge, etc.

  18. Pair Analysis Report: This report identifies popular pairings of menu items. You can apply this information in many ways. For example, you could use Pairs Analysis to find out which wine customers prefer with steak. Or, if you run out of the preferred wine, you could find out which is the second most popular wine.

  19. Management Audit Report: (Manager Activities) This report produces a listing of manager activities for the specified date range. For example, “Manager 1" accessed sales information on October 1, “Manager 2” accessed the Menu Maintenance screen on September 4, etc.

  20. Future Delivery Orders: This report produces a list of future delivery orders and the menu items ordered for the specified date range and customer(s). This report is useful in identifying inventory requirements for future delivery/catering orders.

  21. Sales Graphs: This feature provides you with the ability to display and print a variety of graphs, ie: Pie, Column, and Bar.
